The Magic Loungeabout

We are sticking to our electronic routes on Saturday. Last time we brought you the godfather of synth pop Gary Numan, now we give the group who many see as the biggest influencers on electronic music today.

Human League

The Human League

21.30

David Bowie once said that The Human League were the sound of the future. Little did he realise how ironic the statement would sound today. We are in the future and their sound still feels, well… today. Some say without them there would be no Depeche mode or even global superstars like Madonna and Lady Gaga. We’re glad of the former and honoured to have them headlining Saturday nights main stage.

Its not just Tahita’s haircut that shares a relationship with Phil Oakey’s Human League. They are of course musical cousins too. But their musical tree branches out further covering funk and adult pop, which is part Siouxsie Sioux, and part LCD Soundsystem. Their first album was nominated for a mercury prize and their second has seen equal praise. The Telegraph said it was a cracking comeback and the NME said it was difficult to imagine a better pop album coming out this year. We agree.

Fenech Soler

Comparisons have been made with MGMT and Friendly Fires, but we think Fenech Solers music is more consistent than both. There’s an exciting and uplifting blend in their music, serving anything from falsetto, funk and big fizzy electro pop choruses. The Guardian and Times gave their album 4 stars and recent appearances on the Radio 1 live lounge appear to have the critics on side.

Crazy P

Crazy P

They have crafted disco pop house classics for over 15 years now. This summer sees new material to support their revered back catalogue. Who can remember their classic album, The Wicked is Music, which defined the song based disco album for a whole generation of early clubbers. They shall warm Saturday up into a frenzy.

Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer

Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer

14.25

The Chap-Hop sensation is coming to Saturday. Bringing some manners back to popular culture, Mr B will dazzle, entertain and amuse you with his ingenious stylings. He appears with his Banjolele and stiff upper lip to perform ditties of pipe-smoking, high society, cricket and some more well-known pieces from the world of Hip-Hop, re-worked in true Chap-Hop fashion. Comedy genius to break up the day.

Florrie

Florrie

Closely associated withthe Xenomania production house, since joining as their in-house drummer in 2008 she has played live and on record for popular artists such as Girls Aloud and the Pet Shop Boys. In 2010, she began a solo career and we think she's an absolute talent. In 2008 we predicted Eliza Doolittle would see more popular acclaim, we are making the same predictions for Florrie, a very credible pop starlet indeed.

Friends Electric

Friends Electric

A four piece from Wales who recently ditched their guitars for synths. They make some infectious electronic pop. They are also remixers for the likes of Kelis and Elie Goulding and recently headlined the BBC Introducing stage at Radio 1's Big weekend. With live sessions at Radio 1 and Radio 2, I'm sure many of you will already be familiar with them. So come show your support for our opening act.

The story of DJ Graeme Park really mirrors the story of the evolution of dance music and club culture itself. He is of course infamous for his 8-year residency at The Hacienda, but also his acclaimed radio shows on Kiss and Galaxy. He continues to DJ all over the world and broadcasts a weekly show across the UK and overseas, mixing new and old like he only knows how. He’ll be broadcasting live to you loungers on Saturday night. Not to be missed.

Justin Unabomber

Justin Unabomber

23.00

It was the summer of 1995 when the Unabombers first detonated their underground bomb, The Electric Chair. A mystic brew of house, broken beat and northern sulfuric soul. A club that was part of the history of dance. Now they DJ everywhere from New York to Bangkok. But on a fair summers night in the Yorkshire Dales, we'll see Justin DJ just for us. No one will be sitting down for this performance.
